The Division of Infectious Diseases is affiliated with the following research centers and projects:
- Bursky Center for Human Immunology & Immunotherapy Programs (CHiiPs): An environment where basic, translational and clinical aspects of human immunology and immunotherapy research are seamlessly integrated. Michael S. Diamond, MD, PhD is the Associate Director, Center for Human Immunology and Immunotherapy Programs.
- Center for Administrative Data Research (CADR): CADR provides leadership and training in the use of health services administrative data in clinical epidemiological, health services and outcomes research.
- Center for Clinical Genomics of Microbial Systems (CC-GEMS): The goal of CC-GEMS is to apply next-generation sequencing and related technologies to generate new information on pathogens, microbiomes and host-parasite interactions that may lead to an improved understanding of host-microbial interactions and better clinical care. Center Leader is Makedonka Mitreva, PhD.
- Death to Oncocerciasis and Lymphatic Filariasis (DOLF) Project: The mission of the DOLF Project is to develop and test improved treatments for onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis that will enhance efforts to control and eliminate these important neglected tropical diseases. Principal investigator: Gary J. Weil, MD.
- The Midwest Developmental Center for AIDS Research (D-CFAR): To advance the national “Ending the HIV Epidemic” (EHE) initiative and NIH Office of AIDS research priorities as well as to help close our regional gaps, the Midwest Developmental Centers for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) seeks to advance transdisciplinary research, foster multi-sector collaboration and nurture emerging investigators addressing HIV/AIDS. Principal investigators: Elvin Geng, MD, PhD and Juliet Iwelunmor, PhD; Advanced Technology Core: Lian Shan, PhD, director and George Kyei, MBChB,PhD, co-director.
- Center for Vaccines & Immunity to Microbial Pathogens: The Center for Vaccines and Immunity to Microbial Pathogens will be a vital hub for coordinating discoveries in microbiology and immunology to human vaccine development and testing. We will partner with multiple departments and disciplines while drawing on the expertise and established infrastructure to maximize the use of resources and accelerate progress.
