Hilary Babcock, MD, MPH and Bruce Hall, MD, PhD, MBA assume new leadership roles at BJC

Hilary Babcock, MD, MPH and Bruce Hall, MD, PhD, MBA

BJC’s successful response to extraordinary challenges during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic lead to the promotion of two physicians who were instrumental in coordinating that effort.

Bruce Hall, MD, PhD, MBA, professor of surgery, assumed the role of BJC chief medical officer, while Hilary Babcock, MD, MPH, professor of medicine, was appointed BJC vice president and chief quality officer, the role previously held by Dr. Hall.

Dr. Babcock most recently served as the BJC infection prevention and occupational health medical director. Her previous leadership positions within the health system include assistant director of occupational health and medical director of the BJC infection prevention and healthcare epidemiology program. Dr. Babcock is also co-chair of the CDC Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee.

Dr. Babcock completed her internal medicine training and infectious diseases fellowship training at BJH/WUSM. She joined the infectious diseases faculty at WUSM in 2002.
