Queer and Present Danger – Hosted by OUTLaw at Washington University School of Law

OUTLaw is an educational, political, and social alliance of law students, faculty, staff and alumni interested in working with Washington University and the surrounding community towards fostering tand maintaining an environment that is supportive, positive, and safe for individuals of sexual and gender diversity. Outlaw hosts its 13th annual conference on March 1 and 2, 2018,  in partnership with the Office of the Vice-Provost for Faculty Advancement and Institutional Diversity, public interest law and policy speaker series, Washington University Assembly Series and Washington University Department of Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies. The topics of the conference will be featured in panel discussions on equity, health law, and education and employment.

Dr. Patel will join James Esseks, Professor Elizabeth Sepper and Dr. Sharon Vermont to discuss how the law advances and impedes the quality of healthcare for members of the LGBTQ community. They will speak on issues relating to HIV criminalization, access to care for trans individuals, and mental health issues related to queer identities.
