During the COVID-19 pandemic, Washington University physicians respond to news and other media outlets to educate the public. On a daily basis, they answer questions submitted to the “Ask the WashU Doctors” series.

With the CDC’s recent recommendation to wear cloth face coverings, many people are doing their part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Drs. Cheri LeBlanc and Steven Lawrence provide information about cloth and medical face shields, proper cleaning and other tips to help keep you safe when leaving the house.

Cheri LeBlanc, MD, is the executive director of the Habif Health and Wellness Center at Washington University in St. Louis. Steven Lawrence, MD, MSc, is an associate professor in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Washington University School of Medicine. Lawrence is also the assistant dean for Curriculum and Clinical Sciences, Office of Medical Student Education.
