Topic: Sexual Assault and STI Care

Speaker: Jennifer McDaniel, BSN, RN, SANE-A

Course Description: Live webinar. Faculty and staff from the St. Louis STI/HIV Prevention Training Center will discuss the realities of providing sexual healthcare for patients who have experienced sexual assault. Topics will include case discussion, treatment options, and innovative approaches to care.

McDaniel has been a nurse since 2007 with a decade of experience in nursing forensics. She has worked as sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) since 2016 and is certified as an adolescent and adult SANE (SANE-A) with a certificate in intimate partner violence assessment (IVPNE). She began the first forensic nursing department as a program manager in a large hospital system to serve victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and strangulation. McDaniel is currently an independent consultant who works to increase awareness about violence and abuse through education and meaningful conversation.
