Under the direction of Dr. Shail Mehta (Pulmonology), Dr. Andrew Roth (Pulmonology), and Dr. Conor Grant (Infectious Diseases), the multidisciplinary pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) clinic sees patients with lung NTM disease. The clinic utilizes an integrated approach (pulmonology, infectious disease and thoracic surgery) to provide comprehensive care to patients with suspected, new, or refractory NTM disease. Clinical trials are available for patients in whom standard therapies have not been effective. Patients can also participate in other scientific studies to further understanding of this complex disease. Dr. Mehta and Dr. Roth also direct the bronchiectasis clinic. This clinic sees and treats patients with bronchiectasis who often suffer from shortness of breath, coughing, and frequent infections. Clinical trials for new medications are available to patients. The clinic also utilizes a nurse and respiratory therapy to provide instruction on airway clearance therapies. Patients with associated immunodeficiency syndromes can be referred to Dr. Ofer Zimmerman in Immunology.

The Washington University Bronchiectasis and NTM program is certified as a Bronchiectasis and NTM Care Center, one of 36 such comprehensive care centers in the country. As a comprehensive center, we strive to provide prompt and accurate diagnosis and outstanding medical care, resources and education to those impacted by these chronic lung diseases.
