A new clinic that offers care for patients with Non-tuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease (NTM-PD) is scheduling appointments in the Pulmonary Outpatient Clinic in the Center for Advanced Medicine. The clinic is a joint effort between Washington University physicians Carlos Mejia, MD, assistant professor in the division of infectious diseases; Thomas Bailey, MD, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases; and Shail Mehta, MD, assistant professor, in the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine.
The NTM clinic sees all patients with pulmonary NTM disease. The clinic utilizes an integrated approach (pulmonology, infectious disease and thoracic surgery) for patients with suspected, new, or refractory disease. Clinical trials are available for patients in whom standard therapies have not been effective. Patients may also participate in other scientific studies to further our understanding of this complex disease.
