It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. William G. Powderly will be named the Larry J. Shapiro Distinguished Professor in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences on August 1st.
Dr. Powderly is currently the Dr. J. William Campbell Professor of Medicine and Director of the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS), and Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Science at Washington University School of Medicine (WashU Medicine).
Dr. Powderly received his undergraduate and graduate education at University College Dublin in Ireland. Dr. Powderly completed his internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, and was a registrar in medicine in Ireland before coming to the United States for an infectious diseases fellowship at WashU Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and a Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA).
