Website launched providing resources for pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV, or PrEP

Faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, assisted in the development of the recently launched Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website providing resources for pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV, or PrEP.

PrEP is the use of antiretrovirals prior to exposure to HIV in populations who have a substantial risk for HIV acquisition.

Rupa Patel, MD, MPH, DTM&H is actively promoting PrEP provider awareness and willingness to prescribe, in accordance with the CDC recommendation for comprehensive HIV prevention. If you are a provider who is experienced with PrEP and interested in being listed in the online PrEP provider directory, please complete the form found at the above website. If your experience is limited, there are available resources to provide education about PrEP recommendations.

A link has been added to the PrEP website to assist people interested in taking PrEP to locate a provider who can assist with the next steps.

Please join us in the effort to prevent the spread of HIV.
