Jennie H. Kwon, DO, MSCI Among Women Shaping St. Louis Future

The Briefcase Coach, a boutique executive career PR firm, recently published a list of “50 Women Shaping the Future of St. Louis” through visionary leadership, bold innovation, and deep commitment to service. These women excel across many fields and are driving meaningful change to their communities.

We are proud to share that Dr. Jennie Kwon, associate professor of medicine, infectious diseases is among those selected in the Women in Healthcare Science category. Dr. Kwon is at the forefront of addressing the challenge of antimicrobial resistance and improving patient care by developing strategies to combat the spread of resistant infections. Dr. Kwon is also the Section Director, Healthcare Epidemiology & Antimicrobial Stewardship and Medical Director for Infection Prevention, Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Kwon’s Lab members investigate reservoirs for antimicrobial resistant organisms and develop novel, pragmatic techniques to improve the detection, prevention, and treatment of antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Kwon is deeply committed to the next generation of healthcare professionals, working closely with trainees to provide the knowledge, skills and opportunities necessary to reach their individual career goals. She has mentored trainees in bioengineering, medicine, infectious diseases, and microbiology. Dr. Kwon is committed to her mentees, and views the mentor-mentee relationship as one of the greatest joys in her work.

Dr. Kwon participates as an advisor to several committees as a thought leader including at the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and the Department of Health and Human Services Presidential Advisory Council on Combatting Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria. Her work is largely funded by the NIH and CDC.

Dr. Kwon will continue to make significant strides in both medical research and the development of future healthcare professionals.
