Aditi Ramakrishnan MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, recognized early in her research career that community engagement would be critical. The Center for Community Health Partnership and Research talked with Aditi about her journey.
Aditi, we first met you in 2023 when you reached out for community engagement mentorship related to your institutional K submission. How did you decide that community engagement should be part of your research training?
My passion for providing equitable healthcare as a physician in the middle of the HIV epidemic in Atlanta, which has one of the highest rates of HIV in the country, led me to the world of implementation science research. The story of HIV demonstrated how integral community engagement is to developing inclusive, effective treatment for all populations.
