The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity (CRE²) at Washington University in St. Louis is pleased to announce the appointment of Julia D. López, PhD, MPH, LCSW, as the Center’s inaugural Faculty Lead for School of Medicine Engagement, effective August 1, 2026.
This new leadership role reflects CRE²’s commitment to strengthening its collaborations across the Medical Campus and expanding the opportunities of our medical school colleagues for interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public engagement at the intersection of race, ethnicity, and health.
Dr. López is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Assistant Professor of Public Health at Washington University School of Medicine. A nationally recognized scholar, clinician, and educator, her research examines the social and structural determinants of health, with particular attention to HIV prevention and treatment, health equity, implementation science, and community-engaged approaches to improving health outcomes among historically marginalized populations.
