I chose to do an ID fellowship to further my education focusing on my areas of interests including microbiology, immunology and disease pathogenesis while also allowing me to care for a diverse patient population. Since discovering ID, I have since also developed an interest in areas including HIV care, health disparities, and global health. WUSM provides fantastic clinical training in ID as well as a great diversity in research opportunities. Perhaps the most important reason I chose WUSM was because of the amazing people who make up the program. The fellows, faculty, and support staff have been extraordinarily warm and friendly – making this place a home away from home. During my ID fellowship at WUSM, I would like to focus on defining my ID interests while working towards planning for my future career path. I am very fortunate to train at WUSM where I have access to ID leaders in many diverse fields who also serve as great mentors.
