 5><p>Dr. Emily Spivak is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infecti
 ous Diseases. She established and serves as Co-Director of the Antimicrobia
 l Stewardship Programs at University of Utah Health and the Salt Lake City 
 Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. She completed her residency and fellows
 hip training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Prior to t
 hat\, she earned a Masters in Health Sciences in Clinical Investigation at 
 the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.</p><p>Dr. Spivak's res
 earch interests focus on understanding patterns and drivers of antimicrobia
 l use\, methods to assess appropriateness\, and development and evaluation 
 of methods to improve antimicrobial use. She has led clinical research focu
 sed on evaluating patient outcomes related to various antibiotic use strate
 gies. Dr. Spivak is also involved with national Veterans Affairs efforts to
  evaluate antimicrobial use\, develop tools to improve use and disseminatio
 n and evaluation of these resources.</p><p>Dr. Spivak is a member of the <a
  href="https://shea-online.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Society of 
 Healthcare Epidemiology (SHEA)</a>. There she serves on the Public Policy a
 nd Government Affairs Committee and the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee. A
 n <a href="https://www.idsociety.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Infec
 tious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)</a> Fellow\, Dr. Spivak serves as 
 Vice Chair of the IDSA Antimicrobial Resistance Committee. She also serves 
 as a member of the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/faca/committees/bscid.html#
 cdc_generic_section_2-committee-information" target="_blank" rel="noopener"
 >Board of Scientific Counselors to the Office of Infectious Diseases at the
  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention</a>. Dr. Spivak is also Co-Chai
 r of the Vizient Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.</p>
