Ending the HIV Epidemic: Progress\, Challenges and Lessons Learn ed
The 4th Annual J. Russell Little\, MD Lectureship is in conjunction with this week's Medicin e Grand Rounds presented by Department of Medicine.
This lecture will be recorded and uploaded to the Department of Medicine website. CME and MOC will be available for individuals who are unable to attend in person. Lunch will be available outside of the auditorium. In-person attendance is benef icial for the speaker and attendees.
Dr. Wendy Armstrong is Pr esident Elect for IDSA and heads the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is an active clinici an\, a leading expert in HIV\, and a medical educator. Dr. Armstrong is a p assionate advocate for addressing the ID/HIV workforce\, including clinicia ns\, educators\, physician-scientists\, and public health experts.
Dr . Armstrong has actively participated in numerous Society committees and in itiatives\, working to develop programs and support policies that ensure ac cess to high-quality health care for all patients. Her involvement includes significant contributions to the HIVMA Board of Directors\, the IDSA Medic al Education Community of Practice\, the IDWeek Program Committe e and other IDSA committees and task forces. She has played a pivotal role in collaborations that magnify the impact of IDSA and HIVMA. Dr. Armstrong’ s dedication to her field has provided her with a professional home where s he feels a strong sense of belonging.
She aims to implement the IDSA workforce strategy to support the current workforce\, including advanced pr actice providers and international medical graduates\, and to inspire train ees to enter the profession. She aims to address workload and compensation issues\, strengthen the diversity of the membership\, bolster pandemic prep aredness (including addressing antimicrobial resistance) and work toward he alth care equity. Dr. Armstrong is determined to ensure that all members fe el the same sense of community and belonging that she has experienced.

J. Russell Little\, MD[/caption]
J. Russell Little\, MD\, was on the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis from 1964 to 2005 . He served as chief of infectious diseases at what was then Jewish Hospita l from 1967 to 1996. Dr. Russel\, a professor emeritus of medicine\, died A ug. 18\, 2018\, in St. Louis following a long illness. He was known for his dedication to teaching\, mentoring and patient care and served as an incre dible role model to which the the Division of Infectious Diseases establish ed the J. Russell Little Award for Excellence in Teaching in his honor.
