What will it take to end the H IV epidemic?
The 4th Annual Russ Little Visiting Professorship is in conjunction with this week's Medi cine Grand Rounds presented by Department of Medicine.
This lecture w ill be recorded and uploaded to the Department of Medicine website. CME and M OC will be available for individuals who are unable to attend in person. Lu nch will be available outside of the auditorium. In-person attendance is be neficial for the speaker and attendees.
Infectious Diseases fellows are invite d to a small-group breakfast to meet with Dr. Armstrong at 8:30 a.m. in the Northwest Tower large conference room\, #15122. Please come prepared with questions\, particularly around th oughts for how IDSA supports their careers\, ID/HIV research and care\, pub lic health\, and career planning.
Dr. Wendy Armstrong is President Elect for IDSA and heads the Division of Infect ious Diseases at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is an a ctive clinician\, a leading expert in HIV\, and a medical educator. Dr. Arm strong is a passionate advocate for addressing the ID/HIV workforce\, inclu ding clinicians\, educators\, physician-scientists\, and public health expe rts.
Dr. Armstrong has actively participated in numerous Society comm ittees and initiatives\, working to develop programs and support policies t hat ensure access to high-quality health care for all patients. Her involve ment includes significant contributions to the HIVMA Board of Directors\, t he IDSA Medical Education Community of Practice\, the IDWeek Pro gram Committee and other IDSA committees and task forces. She has played a pivotal role in collaborations that magnify the impact of IDSA and HIVMA. D r. Armstrong’s dedication to her field has provided her with a professional home where she feels a strong sense of belonging.
She aims to implem ent the IDSA workforce strategy to support the current workforce\, includin g advanced practice providers and international medical graduates\, and to inspire trainees to enter the profession. She aims to address workload and compensation issues\, strengthen the diversity of the membership\, bolster pandemic preparedness (including addressing antimicrobial resistance) and w ork toward health care equity. Dr. Armstrong is determined to ensure that a ll members feel the same sense of community and belonging that she has expe rienced.

J. Russell Little\, MD[/c

J. Russell Little\, MD\, w as on the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis from 1964 to 2005. He served as chief of infectious diseases at what was th en Jewish Hospital from 1967 to 1996. Dr. Russel\, a professor emeritus of medicine\, died Aug. 18\, 2018\, in St. Louis following a long illness. He was known for his dedication to teaching\, mentoring and patient care and s erved as an incredible role model to which the the Division of Infectious D iseases established the J. Russell Little Award for Excellence in Teaching in his honor.
